Normalising the Consensus Operator for Belief Fusion
نویسندگان
چکیده
The consensus operator is used for cumulative belief fusion in subjective logic, and takes beliefs on binary frames of discernment as input. Coarsening to a binary state space is therefore needed in case the original frame is larger than binary. Coarsening causes information loss in general, and can lead to inconsistent results when applying the consensus operator. We presents a method for normalising the output beliefs of the consensus operator in order to restore consistency in all cases.

The Cumulative Rule for Belief Fusion
The problem of combining beliefs in the Dempster-Shafer belief theory has attracted considerable attention over the last two decades. The classical Dempster's Rule has often been criticised, and many alternative rules for belief combination have been proposed in the literature. The consensus operator for combining beliefs has nice properties and produces more intuitive results than Dempster's r...
متن کاملBelief Revision and Information Fusion in a Probabilistic Environment
This paper presents new methods for probabilistic belief revision and information fusion. By making use of the principles of optimum entropy (ME-principles), we define a generalized revision operator which aims at simulating the human learning of lessons, and we introduce a fusion operator which handles probabilistic information faithfully. In general, this fusion operator computes kind of mean...

Introduction: General health is composed of features that act as a shield in the face of stressful life situations and help couples have better performance in these situations. The present study was conducted to determine the role of cognitive belief, fusion and distortion in predicting the general health of couples. Materials and Methods: Research method was descriptive method. Populatio...
متن کاملA model of multi-agent consensus for vague and uncertain beliefs
Consensus formation is investigated for multi-agent systems in which agents' beliefs are both vague and uncertain. Vagueness is represented by a third truth state meaning borderline. This is combined with a probabilistic model of uncertainty. A belief combination operator is then proposed, which exploits borderline truth values to enable agents with conflicting beliefs to reach a compromise. A ...
متن کاملAbout the Limitations of Logic-based Approaches to the Formalisation of Belief Fusion
In this paper, it is shown that logical approaches to the formalisation of belief fusion suffer from several drawbacks. A first one is due to the fact that the various epistemological roles of involved beliefs are not taken into account. As a result, the set-theoretic union operator is not necessary adequate for fusing beliefs even when such an operator delivers a consistent set of beliefs and ...
